Catherine Lockwood, a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, specializes in helping people recover efficiently and effectively from challenges such as relational, marital, family and sexual difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief, abuse, trauma and communication problems, and to live happier, more satisfying lives. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a master’s degree from Ryokan College. She has extensive post-graduate advanced education and experience in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Couples and Sex Therapy, psychotherapy, trauma, and Dynamic Emotion-Focused Therapy (DEFT). Lockwood is a Guest Lecturer in the Couples & Sex Training Program, David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She specializes in integrating Couples and Sex Therapy with ISTDP. She is a Certified Family Therapist through the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (AAMFT); a graduate of Trauma Treatment training with Sensorimotor Psychotherapy founder Pat Ogden; and has served as a clinical supervisor at the Southern California Counseling Center, Vista del Mar Child and Family Services, and the North Valley Youth & Family Center. She is a clinical member of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT), the American Association of Couples and Sex Therapists (AACAST), and the International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association (IEDTA). She integrates Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic and Mindfulness-oriented approaches, and dream analysis into her work. She provides therapeutic treatment in both English and Spanish.
